CSC Scholarship 2026 — full breakdown of Type A and Type B

The Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) is the largest government-funded scholarship in China. It covers tuition, accommodation, medical insurance and pays a monthly stipend. In 2025 more than 60,000 grants went to students from all over the world.
Type A vs Type B: the key difference
Type A — through the embassy
You apply via the Chinese embassy in your country. Suitable if you hold citizenship of a country that has a bilateral exchange program with China. Higher competition, earlier deadlines — usually February–March.
Type B — directly through the university
You apply straight to the university. Deadlines are later (January–April), the university picks candidates and forwards the list to the China Scholarship Council. Odds are higher, especially at universities with large quotas.
